Yesh, it's about time I gave you guys an update on the progress of my novel, "SPIKE".
I've gotten a lot of notes and comments asking when the book will be finished, how far I've come in the writing process, or how many chapters there are so far, and so forth... And I love getting questions like that, because that means people are interested in my work, many of which say they even love my work, and.. just wow, I mean, I'm completely honest when I say that it means a whole lot to me. And I'm serious when I say that without the support from you guys (you all know who you are <3 ), I would never have bothered continuing the SPIKE story. I wou

So. Your friendly neighborhood Auntie Toerning is going to step in for a second here. Firstly, I think it's very groovy and awesome that DA is establishing their own marketplace. It's a scary world out there of work for hire and it's totally awesome that DA artists now have this stepping stool to practice professional habits in the same way that we practice artistic skills!

I would like to take a moment to discuss the rates here. I was just exploring quickly, and saw on the navigation on the left "price," and, like every other human on the planet, clicked
I think that anger from visual artists towards other artists never has anything to do with anatomy, style, age, content, or personality. These are just icing on the cake. At the core, I think there two kinds of practicing artists:
- People who believe that you need to be qualified (by an abstract or specific entity, person, or group) in order to make a living or name for yourself. Anyone who is doing these things without qualification is a cheater who will fail ultimately.
- People who believe qualification is subjective, or even irrelevant, and you might as well shoot for the name or living while you progress your skills anyway. Anyone who
I just felt like giving a little motivational speech, based on some questions and feedback I've gotten from young, aspiring artists.
Some of you say you look at my art and get inspired, and I just love hearing that because that's just what I want; to be able to inspire! It also inspires be back, because I know very well how it's like to work your butt off and not feeling you're getting anywhere. And I can relate when some of you say you actually lose all motivation when you see my work (or others' work, of course), because you feel you could never reach that same "level". I was there too, I've felt just like you guys! I have also had the nag
:star: What does "yuumei" mean?
Yuumei (幽冥 or 幽明) means light and darkness, strange and deep, hades, and semidarkness. Not to be confused with yuumei (有名) which means famous... (In my defense, I picked this name when I was 12 and didn't realize it also meant famous...)
:star: What projects are you working on right now?
A complete list of all past, present, and future projects can be found here http://yuumei.deviantart.com/journal/Current-and-Future-Projects-286619795
:star: Why didn't you reply to my comment/note?
I'm terribly sorry but due to the enormous amount of notes and comments I receiv
EDIT: Thank you all for the suggestions! I've checked them out, but it seems that what I really need is a Literary Agent, as none of the publishers would accept an unsolicited manuscript, and were all suggesting getting an agent first.. :S
So I'm on the lookout for a literary agent now. ^^;
If you happen to know of any, let me know ;)

So, I just got told... um, not sure if I should write this though... but I got told that the publisher I sent off some of the chapters of "SPIKE" to, won't read it unless I write in Norwegian. Since they're a Norwegian publisher and all. And I can understand that, but... I've tried before, and I can't "tr
